Palm trees, warm sun, soft sand…sounds like paradise doesn’t it? Now, imagine paradise during Christmas! Teneil brings this warm feeling to you when you read her book Trini Christmas Is The Best.
Originally from Trinidad and Tobago,Teneil Brown developed her passion for reading from her family. Her mother and grandmother loved books, while her Aunt made up the most magical bedtime stories for her. Her dads side was full of creativity. Both traits were passed down to Teneil. In turn, her upbringing and culture inspired her to write children’s books. Her 3rd and newest book Trini Christmas Is The Best showcases the unique experiences and traditions of the island. When you read you will enjoy these special moments through the eyes of a young girl discovering her roots.
Wanting to continue her education, Teneil moved to Maryland. She was always academically inclined and her family encouraged her to apply for college scholarships. She received a scholarship to attend Morgan State University and studied Economics. Now, she lives in Maryland and works as a Health Economics Researcher. She lives with her husband, who she met in college, and three children.
With each written story and published book, Teneil knows that she is leaving a legacy for her children, grandchildren, future generations, and future readers to enjoy. Within every word she is leaving a part of herself that can be shared even when she is no longer here. Her children light up when they read one of their moms stories.
In 2022, the author founded Victorious Books. It’s an independent publishing company where she publishes her children’s books. Right now, her business is a sole proprietorship but she plans to make it a LLC. All of her books are printed and distributed using Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing, Ingram Sparks and Lulu. Teneil also has published planners, coloring books and notepads.
Teneil strives to bring joy to her readers’ lives. In 5 years, she hopes her business can fully support itself with a team to publish and bring her books to life. She looks forward to having a series of Caribbean picture books and more. With all the ideas she has in her head she hopes to see them blossom.
Teneil wants to share a popular saying with any aspiring authors. “You cannot edit a blank page.” She encourages everyone to just get started, start writing and you will figure out the rest as you go.
